Business Meeting

Join the Board

Dear Prospective Board Member

I am pleased that you are thinking about applying to become a Board Member at St Luke’s Housing Society. We believe that we deliver an excellent service to our tenants and applicants. However, we don’t want to be complacent, and are constantly looking to further improve. We also need to respond to changes in legislation and guidance, as well as the broader social and economic environment. There is always work to do!

We are looking for members to join the Board who can bring different perspectives and skills.  The key qualities required are to be able to absorb and analyse information and to question what is presented, in order to arrive at a  considered viewpoint. We want people who understand the importance of  sheltered housing and building a community, and who will care about the people they serve here.  We actively welcome applications from all sectors of the community.

The time commitment is variable – it can be as little as a few hours each quarter to prepare for and attend Board meetings. However, most of our Board choose to involve themselves in either our Finance Committee or Strategy and Governance Committee (or both). Most Members like to visit the scheme for special events or just for a coffee, or to get involved in helping in a particular area of work.  The level of involvement of Board Members often changes over time, depending on other commitments, and we understand this.

In return for your time commitment we can offer a warm welcome, a structured induction along with ongoing learning opportunities, and the chance to be involved in an interesting and worthwhile charitable enterprise. Board members are unpaid but we are happy to reimburse travel and caring expenses.

Please contact either myself or our General Manager, Jo Dancer (  if you would like to discuss joining us.

Yours sincerely

Malcolm Fearn
